AI models inside VEX Desktop, paid in the $VEX token. Each request first holds its worst-case cost. When the model answers, you are charged what the model provider billed, plus the 15% VEX share, converted to VEX at a 60-minute average price (TWAP). A request that ends with no bill from the provider, because it was stopped or cut off, is charged an estimate from the tokens counted, never more than the hold. The rest of the hold returns at once.

The VEX share

Where the VEX share goes, per $1 of model cost.

Prices include a 15% VEX share, and all of it goes back into VEX. For every $1 of model cost, the VEX share is 15 cents: 6 are burned as VEX, 3 come back to you as cashback, 3 go to the treasury, and about 3 pay the VEX to USDG conversion and the compute provider's 2% top-up fee.

  • The AI cannot redirect your funds: bridges have no recipient field, so a recipient a model supplies is refused by name.
  • Swaps, bridges and wallet transactions that carry native value pay a 0.25% VEX fee, taken only after the operation succeeds. Lighter perps pay 0.02%, and sends, wraps, Morpho and Pendle pay none.
  • Full access is an explicit, confirmed opt-in.

Questions people ask.

Do I need $VEX to use VEX?

You can use Desktop with your own OpenRouter API key, without $VEX, or pay for its AI in VEX through Vex Inference. The preview chat includes 0.015 USD of AI a day for read-only research. The full web app is coming soon.

What does the AI cost me?

In Desktop you choose: with Vex Inference you pay in VEX what the model provider billed, plus the 15% VEX share; with your own OpenRouter API key you pay OpenRouter directly. The preview chat costs you nothing: each run reserves its worst-case cost from the guest's daily budget, then settles at the provider's list price.

Who holds my keys?

In Desktop, you do: keys are created and encrypted on your computer and never leave it, and the code is published as source-available so anyone can check. The AI never holds a key. The preview chat uses no wallet and no keys: it does read-only research.

Can the agent trade without asking me?

Only if you choose that. By default every action that moves money waits for your approval. Desktop's Full Autonomous sessions act without asking, and the wallets you attach are the only limit. The preview chat cannot trade: it does read-only research.

Is VEX Cloud live?

Not yet. The web app is coming soon. The home page runs a preview of its chat today. To hear when it opens, join our Telegram channel (opens in a new tab).

Where do VEX fees go?

To a public treasury address. VEX fees depend on the operation (the fee table lists them). The team's policy is that 85% of the fees buys back and burns VEX and 15% funds Ecosystem Growth. It is a policy carried out from the treasury, not code. The burn ledger on the home page shows total VEX burned and sent to the dead address, read live from the chain. Each buyback is a public transaction on the treasury's explorer page (opens in a new tab).

Does staking pay a reward?

No. Staking is planned, and it lowers your fee, raises your limits and opens creator features. No reward is paid.

What is Vex Inc.?

A company run entirely by AI, and a separate experiment with its own code. A board of three models (CEO, CTO and CFO) gets real money, hires up to 15 agent employees, holds its meetings in the company chat, trades on DEXes and Lighter, writes its own tools on its own server, and buys VEX with its profits as the company's equity. No human steps in, and every move is shown live. Two companies run on two different models, to compare which model runs a company better. The models trade with no approvals and no limits on purpose, so Vex Inc. results say nothing about how VEX Desktop or Cloud agents perform. It is in development.

Does VEX Desktop keep trading when my computer is off?

No. Desktop works only while the app is open. If you close it or the computer sleeps, a running mission stops making progress. The VEX Cloud web app, coming soon, runs on VEX's servers.
